Finally an official thread for all this hockey game stuff lol.

I'll be getting NHL 08 for the PS3. This game I think has just demolished 2K this year. All the stuff I've seen, shows me this will be the most realistic hockey game ever.

It just stinks that the game doesn't come out till next month, but that gives me time to get my PS3 which could be this weekend or early next week.

Here's a new article on the online play for 08, and it sounds so awesome. It's just too bad you can't bring in your create a plays. Also they have all the new "jerseys" in the game but until all the teams show them they will be hidden. Once they have, EA will release a code that will unlock them. I can care less for them, at least you can play with the old ones.

not much has been shown of 2k8. They added a new skill stick, improved graphics, but still has the lame arcade gameplay and inferior graphics than 08. I'm not holding my breath on that.

I will say this though, the fighting in EA sucks.

I hope they have the accually goalie maks for the goalies and it would be cool if when you create a goalie that you could design his mask

If the create a team mode is as good as it looks then NHL 08 should be far better than last years (and that was what was really missing from it).

The fighting system needs to revert back to the NHL 2002 one. Now that game was a classic.

I think the worst part of the fighting is that it's just standing still, and there's hardly any tugging on the jerseys.. all punching. They should tune into a real fight sometime. Not as many punches, but the way it stands looks pretty goofy.

Amen, the fighting system in 07 just doesn't want to cooperate with me and by the time my guy starts punching we are already broken up. Hopefully it will be improved.

NHL 08 still looks far better and in my past experiences plays far better as well.

Kind of off topic...But I noticed that in the nhl 07 thread when people were writing there starting lineups for there dynastys...Many of the players had Stastny and Stewart in there lineups for nhl 07

Ah, poor naive 40MS lol. No, they probably made them. I know back in 2k6, I made like 10 prospects myslef, pretty accurtae to what Wolski and Svatos types are today, happiness and proudness

actually no we did not create the prospects....after the season starts EA puts out an update you can get if you are connected to the internet and download the rookies for that year..that is how I has stastny and malkin in my game

yeah EA released 1 roster update but well there are many ppl creating their own player's or lazy ones like me and the other 99% and just download them from someone who makes complete roster with all prospects even the drafted players from this draft and so on updated jerseys goalie gear...
great thing to have Hensick McComrick Stoa Burki Steward and Shattenkirk and all other on the team and fight for a spot thats why im happy to see AHL in 08 atleast some realistic way not just to have all scratched and a non present imagynary team where you call them up and send down from

I feel a little dumb asking but what are the different letters and colors for when doing the scouting during the draft in 07??

usually when a newer version is set to come out, whoever makes the updates stops and waits for the new game to come out. i know thats how it is with madden and EA makes madden, so i figured its one in the same.




it says it on the top, like red is uncertain, yellow is almost positive and green is deffinite and the letters are rankings, A is the best and so forth. for example if a guy has a GREEN A under his speed category, chances are high that his speed rating after you draft him will be like an 85+ or if a guy has a RED A under speed chances are he could be a 50 speed or you can luck out and he'll be a 90 speed. thats why it proves good to have good scouting among anything else when you "upgrade"
